CenterPoint Energy's Home Service Plus® (HSP) offers secure online scheduling for your home repair service and maintenance needs.

Need A/C repair?

Try these troubleshooting tips first:

  • Have you checked to make sure the air filter at the furnace is clean? A dirty or clogged furnace filter can affect the performance of your air conditioner.
  • Is the outside unit clear from debris? Remove dried leaves and other debris from the condenser unit.
  • Have you checked the thermostat setting? While this may seem obvious, make sure your thermostat is set to "COOL." This small switch can sometimes get moved very easily and without anyone ever realizing it.
  • Is the thermostat working? Some thermostats are wired to the house's electrical system, while others use batteries. It's possible that a couple new batteries could fix the issue.
  • Is the circuit tripped? Check the circuit breaker in the house to make sure the breaker is on and operational.
  • Are the supply vents all open and unblocked? Make sure that furniture, rugs, or curtains are not blocking supply and return vents.
